Please read these terms carefully before using CryFox Browser. By downloading or using CryFox, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using CryFox Browser ("the Software"), you ("the User") agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") as set forth by CryFox Labs ("we", "us", or "our"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Software.

These Terms apply to all users of CryFox Browser, including individuals, teams, and organizations deploying the Software for commercial or non-commercial purposes.

Use of the software

CryFox Browser is open-source software. Your rights and obligations when using it are described below.

Open-source license

CryFox is released under an open-source license. You are free to use, inspect, fork, and contribute to the source code in accordance with that license. The source code is available on GitHub.

Personal & commercial use

You may use CryFox for personal or commercial purposes. Organizations may deploy CryFox across their teams without additional licensing fees.

No warranty

The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that CryFox will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any specific purpose.

Updates & changes

We may release updates, patches, or new versions at any time. You are not required to update, but older versions may not receive security fixes.

Prohibited uses

CryFox is built for privacy-respecting, lawful browsing. The following uses are not permitted.

Illegal activity

You may not use CryFox to engage in any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.

Malicious distribution

You may not distribute modified versions of CryFox that contain malware, spyware, backdoors, or any code intended to harm users or compromise their privacy.

Trademark misuse

You may not use the CryFox or CryFox Labs name, logo, or branding in a way that implies endorsement or official affiliation without our written permission.

Circumventing security

You may not use CryFox to deliberately circumvent security controls, exploit vulnerabilities, or interfere with the integrity of third-party systems.

Intellectual property

The CryFox name, logo, and associated branding are trademarks of CryFox Labs. All rights to these marks are reserved.

  • The source code is open source and licensed accordingly.
  • Branding and trademarks are not covered by the open-source license.
  • Third-party libraries used in CryFox retain their own licenses.
  • Forks must not use the CryFox name or logo without permission.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CryFox Labs expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.

  • No warranty of merchantability or fitness for purpose.
  • No guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free operation.
  • No warranty that the Software is free of security vulnerabilities.
  • Use at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

Our liability to you is limited. Please read this section carefully.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CryFox Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Software.

This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of business, or any other intangible losses, even if CryFox Labs has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Aggregate liability cap

In jurisdictions where a full disclaimer of liability is not permitted, our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Software shall not exceed the amount you paid, if any, for the Software in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Here's how we handle changes.

Notification of changes

When we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be announced via our GitHub repository.

Continued use

Continued use of CryFox Browser after updated Terms have been published constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you disagree, you should stop using the Software.

Version history

Previous versions of these Terms are available in the commit history of our public GitHub repository, so you can always see exactly what changed and when.
